My journey into the world of Data Science.

A year ago, I don’t have the slightest idea of what data science is.

And now, I’m trying to be a Data Scientist.

I had always thought I’m living the path I want. To finished a degree in Industrial Engineering, then passed the CIE exams, and then find the perfect job.

But then, I was unhappy.

Being an IE thought me the attitude to always seek for the better. Kaizen. Better process, better systems, and better life.

For me, choosing to become a Data Scientist does not mean I’m brushing aside my life as an IE. It’s just my way of being more better.

Now, let’s begin coding!

The Colab

This is our first class where we had actual coding and we used Google Colab. Well, it did not turn out okay for me cause I got left behind after coding something for Github (cause I still need to sign-in to my account). And then when I got back in class… I was like “Where am I?”
It’s a funny story but also a hard self-reminder of the things I still need to learn so I would not get left behind again.

And so my Lesson #1 would be: Stay Log-in into all accounts necessary before class. For coding, this means its Github and Google accounts.

So now, I can start to use Google Colab and create a New Notebook named “200915 JN”.

Colab Notebook: 200915 JN

Here I created text codes using different markdown and tried different font styles.

Then I tried making a list. I actually had fun thinking about this.

Next, I run a few lines of code.

To importing a CSV file, describing, editing, and then saving to a new file.

Uploading a CSV file from Desktop
Deleting empty cells
Saving and downloading the new CSV files

And that’s all for now in my first attempt with Google Colab. Next, I’ll learn the basics of Git in my next story.
